Take a look at this little muffin, if she wasn't sleeping I would want to squeeze her adorable little cheeks! Jill Photography took this amazing picture of our newest Big Stack hair bow, it turned out adorable.

On a totally different note....

here is the Zucchini-Chocolate Chip muffin recipe I promised to share with you on our facebook page.

24 muffins (which might not be enough....)

In a bowl combine

3 cups of flour

1 1/2 sugar

2 tsp baking soda

2 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp salt

Combine in another bowl

2 eggs, lightly beaten

1 cup vegetable oil

1/2 milk plus 2 Tbs lemon juice

Stir into the dry ingredients

Fold in

2 cups shredded zucchini

1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips

nuts...if you want.

Fill greased or paper lined muffin cups about two-thirds full.

Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes or until the muffins test done.

These were delightful. I think next time I will make 2 batches and freeze some for after school snacks for the kiddos. Enjoy!

I've been getting so sick of seeing my Goose walk around in her hole-y jeans, so we cut the bottoms off today. I ripped them into 1 1/2-inch strips and then cut the strips into 4 inch lengths and sewed the strips into a flower. Then, I attached the 3 ivory roses, like the ones we put in the small rose and polka dots clip (tutorial coming soon). I let her pick out a fabric wrapped headband to attach it to and she was set! I really love the way it turned out...I am off to hunt down the rest of her pants, lol.

Ribbon Bloom in Stripes Tutorial

A Ribbon Bloom Headband~

For this adorable headband you are going to need the following items

1 low-temp glue gun and glue sticks

1 metal headband

3 strips of ribbon 32 inches in length

2 strips of ribbon 24 inches in length

Felt piece

Heat seal the ends of the ribbon to prevent fraying. I tie a knot at the end of the ribbon leaving about 1 to 1 1/2 inches of ribbon so I have something to hold onto. Twist and glue until you reach the end of the ribbon. I made a short little video clip on the makings of the ribbon blooms, it is at the bottom of the post...I hope you like it, lol. :)
Make all five blooms, and then you can decide how you want to glue them together.
I arrange the blooms on the felt before I glue them to get a nice idea of how the headband will look when it is finished. This is where you can hide any mistakes or pokey little ribbon pieces that didn't get tucked into the bloom...
Glue your first bloom onto the felt...
After I have all four blooms on I hold them down to make sure they are on for good!
You need to trim the excess felt...
Turn it around and glue the fifth bloom on the top...
I like to glue the blooms about an inch from the bottom of the headband, this generally puts the piece right above the ear...
Take a one inch piece of felt that you have measured to the length of the bloom piece..
While you are securely holding the bloom piece to the headband, apply the glue to the strip, and work your way down...
Make sure the felt is sticking together, you won't need a ton of glue, that will make it look messy....

Oh my goodness, I love it! The striped ribbon is so cute and a lot less stiff then a solid color grosgrain and so much fun to use, you're going to love it!~
And there you have it! Your own Ribbon Bloom in Stripes Headband. Well done!~

Lace and Vintage Ribbon Baby Bands

This adorable headband was so fun to make! I made the three little roses with the same vintage ribbon I use for the ribbon blooms, they are so tiny and delicate...

To make this headband all you need is 10 inches of lace, a few lengths of a thin ribbon to make the ribbon roses and ribbon blossom. I used a little bit of tulle that I shaped into a bow and I carefully burned the edges to give it a vintage look. I love the brown velvet stretch lace, I think it finishes it off perfectly. I enjoy taking a little pile of supplies and creating something adorable that will last forever! This little lace bow would also look adorable as just a clip or even a set~~

I am working on the tutorial for the small ribbon roses and hopefully will get that posted soon!

Thinking about Patterns

Wow it has been a while since I have blogged! I have decided to make up some patterns for some of the newest designs from All Things Ribbon. It might take a while, but I am determined to make them look fabulous! Of course I will post when they are ready to go. I think I am overdue for a little tutorial on this blog as well....I will put that on my list of things to do! Maybe a little holiday headband, or something adorable for a newborn. What do you think?

My mother made my girls the most beautiful dresses for Easter this year. I made this adorable headband to match~ It was perfect! I think I might be having too much fun with satin; is that possible? We are loving the wide headbands so I used a one inch headband for this one. They seem to stay put a little better. When my youngest wears the thin headbands they tend to slide down her bangs and it drives her crazy! The wide headband is comfortable and stays right where she wants it.

The mums have gone mini and some news..

It took quite a while to perfect the mini mums, I do like the way they turned out. These adorable clips can be doubled up on one side or used for piggies on both sides of the head. I think they are adorable and I can't wait to get some pictures of them on newborns.

New Korkers

Korkers are a fun little clip. I have to admit my girls didn't wear this at all when they were young, and I have actually only been making these for about 3 years. A while back I did a fun little tutorial with some square korkers I made. I have actually experimented with oval korkers too, and I thought they turned out pretty cute. The best thing about these little clips is that they can be worn with more than one outfit. Just pick out something that has a couple of colors that are in your little sweethearts wardrobe and you are set!

Vintage Ribbon Bloom Headbands

I love our new Ribbon Bloom headbands. I found this vintage ribbon a while back and have been slowly adding colors to my collection. Sometimes I hang on to things for a while waiting for the light bulb moment to occur, luckily it didn't take me too long to decide how to use it. I love the color and the texture of this ribbon, the only thing that makes it difficult to work with is the width. It is 9/16 of an inch wide and very thin, but it makes the cutest little blooms. Elegant.

I am always on the look out for fabulous color combinations. I love fabric. I wish I had a room full of bolts just to look at. I am not much of a seamstress, I am more of an instant gratification kind-of gal~which is where the glue gun comes in handy. I will say that one of my favorite ways to come up with new designs/color combinations comes from fabric. I see something that instantly catches my eye and then I must create something with the same color scheme. These three fabric pictures are just plain fun. I am thinking the Big Stacks out of these colors...they are just yummy! AND who doesn't LOVE big bows!

I first fell in love with ribbon over sixteen years ago, after I had my first daughter. One of my particular favorites is satin. One of my vendors was shocked that I liked the satin better than grosgrain; I guess most bow gals like grosgrain. I love our new Ribbon Blossoms. I can't believe how many possibilities and different color combinations are possible. I was so excited to get my first shipment of dresses in. They arrived, we opened the boxes and there it was. I fell in love with this adorable pink dress with cap sleeves. Of course I put two aside for my little darlings and they love them too. Nothing is better than a little girl in a dress that makes her feel like a princess.

Now for the bad news. They have discontinued this little dress. I have seen the same style, but different fabric~~Oh well on to bigger and better things, right?

This week we have been experimenting with marabou. I have to say it is not my absolute favorite thing to work with~because of the mess. I kept the vacuum close and went to town! These adorable new clips have our new ribbon blossoms in them and I think they turned out absolutely adorable! I attached the one Megan is wearing to a metal headband that I put a tab of felt on. I am so excited for Spring! ~~I just can't help myself~~ I found this adorable ribbon that had spring written all over it. I love green and pink together so naturally I had to have it. It is a darling lady bug and flower ribbon, I used it for the base and I accented with double ruffle ribbon, polka dots and a darling gingham.

Coming up with new styles is the easy part...giving them a name, now that is where I have some difficulty. I think I am running out.....So help me out and let me know what you think I should name this darling new bow! If I pick your suggestion, it's yours! Spring Flower Clips!

I found some fun new flowers for our Spring Collection. I love the new glitter buttons for the center of the flower! A while back I did a tutorial on how to make your own flower clips check it out here. They are fun to make and easy enough you could make some with your little princess. (I always supervise my gals with the glue gun). I love the stage when they want to do their own hair, we have a bit of that going on at our house. Add a clip they made for themselves and Viola! Let's call it Independence in Bloom! Have fun!

My little sister Judi is having a fabulous giveaway over on her blog. She made two of theses adorable bags and is giving one of them away! I have two of her gorgeous bags and I love them both. I will admit I didn't make them but if I ever wanted to I would snag the pattern here.

Little Braids n Stuff!

Needless to say Meg was not in the mood to have her hair done today. She loves it, "down, just down." I insist on a lovely hairdo if she is going out and today she had piano lessons. I parted her hair down the middle (harder than it looks) and braided both sides. With a small curling iron I curled the ends, then brought them up and attached with an elastic the bottom of the braid to the top. Pretty simple, which works for me! I pulled the curled hair around the elastic so it would curl over just right. Added some bows and curled her bangs. She wasn't thrilled, I thought it turned out great and so did her piano teacher! :) The first thing she asked when she got in the car was when she could take it out. Reminds me of this. Everyday. Happy New Year!

We had a little craft night and the girls and I made some Halloween bows. Their favorite part was the black cat buttons. You never know what the weather will be like on Halloween night, for us it is generally very chilly! So these bows will look really cute with their coats and gloves! Small Stacks

I love ribbon! I think the funnest part of my job/hobby is designing. I love putting different patterns and color combinations together. I haven't had to much time to design lately because we are so busy preparing for upcoming boutiques. So.... yesterday I took some time and came up with this little cutie. One of my favorite ribbons is the 3/8 gingham, I add this to several of my small stacks and I think it gives the bow a fun look. One of the most difficult things I have to do is come up with clever names for these bows to make them unique. I am a big fan of the Medium Basic Bows...they coordinate with just about anything! Yesterday for church, I curled Kate's hair and swept the front out of her face with the Black Medium Bow...so cute!

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

I love pumpkin! I usually don't bake too much with it during the summer, but there is a hint of fall in the air....So I pulled out my favorite pumpkin recipe and whipped up a batch with the kids. I didn't take pictures because they inhaled them :) Maybe next time!

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 1/2 Cups Pumpkin
1/2 Cup Butter
1 Cup Sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg

I beat these together and then I add the dry ingredients

2 Cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix together well and add your chocolate chips!

Bake @ 375 for 12 to 14 minutes.
Perfection itself!

I guess I should start by introducing myself. My name is Sherelle, and I am a BIG fan of Jen's beautiful handmade creations at All Things Ribbon. Jen has invited me to be a contributor on the blog, so every now and then, I will pop in to share a picture or two of my girls wearing her sweet hair accessories!

We have fallen in love with the headband sets. The sweet weave of color on the band is super fun, and the matching clips can be used with the headband or alone. Miss Lily wore hers to preschool today, and she had so many compliments!!!

I can't believe that summer is already winding down. I have to admit, I love fall. I love the colors and the temperature....I am a fan of soup, you know the crock pot kind you fix in the morning, smell all day and don't have to do anything at night after a long day kind. You know what I mean.

Well I haven't done anything on the blog for a while because my computer got sick (sounds a lot better than crashed or died) and I am waiting, and waiting for it to be fixed. So in the meantime..

So 15 years ago this Sunday the most unbelievable thing happened to me. I became a Mommy. I think that it was one of the most amazing things I have ever experienced. I had Amanda on my Birthday. Everyone at the hospital and everywhere else told me she would absolutely hate having her birthday on my birthday. Not so. Every Birthday morning since she could talk we wish each other a happy birthday and spend the day together usually ending up at the Olive Garden. She is one of my very best friends. She is incredibly talented and unbelievably beautiful. I am so lucky to have her. I love how we are able to sit together and talk and talk as we are working on bows. She has an amazing sense of humor, of course she gets that from me!

So Happy Birthday Manda! We will talk about the drivers license later :)

I love Spring! I realize it is almost over for most of you, but it just started here!

I love it when my kids take my camera.

And. I love new dress shipments! I think I love them as much as Goose does. She is always so excited to get the huge boxes open. She loves every style we carry. Last year she even "bought" a dress for her Raggedy Ann. You can imagine how excited she was to see the new Navy polka Dots and Stripes Sundress. She of course wanted one for Miss Ann but I said "Not this time Goose" We need to send one to Aimie.

The Goose Do

Oh the dilemma. What to do with hair. I have no talent for hair do-ing. This is why I do hair bows. To cover up my skills or lack thereof. The goose likes braids. I can't braid, french braid anyway. I am told I braid backwards, and all the people I love, who could teach me to french braid-braid forwards (or the real way) So they claim it would just be impossible. Poor Goose!

So here is what we do. I start with wet hair.

And go up the sides with those fantastic stretchy ponies that don't pull their hair out.

A few on one side, a couple up the other...

One piggie to hold them together

Then I blew her hair dry and sectioned it so I could use the triple barrel on it

a couple minutes later, because it is so nice and thin :(

Voila . Curling it this way makes it look like she has so much more hair than she really has--not to mention we are growing out the A-line. I loved it on her but she would like long hair now.

Add a hair bow and we were set! This is an example of the streamer hair bows from the shoppe. She loves this hair bow. It makes her feel like a princess. The Streamers are so fun and you can use them whether your princess has long or short hair. Just trim up the ends to the desired length, don't forget to seal up your ends. And you're set!

I had to post this. My six year old little peanut loves her hair. She loves it. However, she does take after me and she has the most tender head. So tear after tear. I feel for her. I went through it. So I am extremely gentle. Really, I am. Well.....She is extremely.... emmm.....DRAMATIC.

I wanted to do this fabulous up do for Easter Sunday with the classic hair bow

I put her hair in the pink curlers at night, and it is so cute the next day. But she loves it straight and long. She likes to flip it from side to side etc.etc. So I say, "Meg, let me put in the large Velcro rollers to give it bounce-ish-ness. She was fine until she looked in the mirror. And then.

My little Goose loves to help. I have told you that before and you can generally see her little fingers in the tutorials etc. Well after a trip to our favorite ribbon shop, from which we have purchased a grab bag: Goose loves to roll the ribbon. She is so fun to work with, and acts so grown up. I think she was waiting for me to take a picture and didn't realize for a bit that I was recording. It turned out cute. She certainly loves to be involved in the Hair Bow Stuff!

Flower Clips..The tutorial!

Here is what you will need to make a darling flower clip. You can use a lighter instead of the wood burner (if you do not have one). Just be really careful....Please.

Remove the back end of the flower, the part that holds it all together.
I used to painstakingly glue each petal stack together so it would stay when I attached it to the clip. But I have a better way:

Take your wood burner or lighter and hold it to the plastic in the middle. This will of course melt it.

Working quickly, use your needle nose pliers or another flat metal surface to flatten out the melted plastic.

These are my little Goosie's fingers. She loves to help! But knows not to touch the "Green thing." EVER. (That is what I call my wood burner) :)

You will now have a flat surface where you can add your lined clip. And it will lay nicely instead of NOT. And by melting the plastic center the flower will not come apart and you do not have to glue each individual layer.

Shamrock Korkers! A square korker tutorial

Here is the list of supplies you will need to make our shamrock korker hair bows:

wooden dowels

clothes pins

ribbon (I love to "kork" 1/4 in. ribbon)

wood burner

glue gun

needle and strong thread (I use DMC Floss)

lined alligator clips

a little bit of time :)

Attach the ribbon to one end of the dowel with the clothespin, tightly wrap the ribbon around the dowel. I am using square dowels and it is very important to get the ribbon as tight as possible. (I love the square Korkers, the turn out so cute. They do take a little extra time)
As soon as your dowels are ready, put them on a baking sheet and place them in your oven for about 25-30 minutes at 250 degrees. Now this works perfectly for me and the korkers stay korked. You need to watch them, however. Nobody likes burned ribbon. :)

Let them cool, and very carefully unwrap them. HINT: If you choose to use round dowels the unwrapping will be much easier.

Now I couldn't take a picture of myself cutting the Korkers with my burning tool, that would have either been extremely dangerous, or I am not that talented....yet. For these particular bows I just eyeballed instead of measuring the ribbon out. For a set of 2, divide the ribbon into 2 piles.

And begin loading your needle. Place the middle of the ribbon length right through the needle. HINT: Load the entire korker on the needle before you pull it through, it will be so much easier to tie off and the Korker will look a lot better.

Here I have finished loading both needles and am ready to tie off. BIG HINT: When you take the thread through the top of the Korker, put the needle under the top ribbon onto the second in the stack. This will ensure you do not pull the thread all the way through and have to begin again. Just added security.

I was going to add the shamrock ribbon to the clips, but I ran out of time. I love the polka dots, and nobody will see them.

The finished product. I love the squares and the rectangles. So fun and different. These just might bring in the Luck O the Irish!

Easter Headband Tutorial

This year for Easter I am doing something a little different than the regular Easter Hair Bow we normally do. I love this little flower headband. My little girls love it too. It is so simple and fun, you could do it together! List of supplies

Glue gun --I love my low temp glue gun it works just as well and I still have all the skin on my fingers. :)

Wood burner or lighter

pliers

ribbon covered headband (I chose Polka Dots just for fun!)

your choice of flowers

flower clip tutorial

After following the directions for the flower clips, minus the clips. You will have flat flowers that will lay very nicely on the headband.

Find the middle, I like to use a clothes pin. No marks, and they will help with the spacing. Super fast!

Glue a flower on both sides of the pin.

Add clothes pins to the sides of those 2 flowers and glue 2 more flowers on and.....

You are done. How easy was that? The flowers are evenly spaced and of course they lay nice and flat.

She wanted to put this one on the moment she saw it.

And there you have it. Our cute Easter Headband.

Flower and Pearl Clips

Here is what you will need

low temp glue gun

clips

velvet

scissors

cute flowers

glass pearls I got these at Hobby Lobby (I love Hobby Lobby)

Cover your clips with the velvet-I use velvet for the no slip grip. It stays put! Remove any of the extra flower parts- we will only be using the petals

I like to flatten the surface after I attach the flower, the pearls will sit nicely if you do not skip this step.

Almost done...

Normally I am opposed to glue showing, a little will poke through after you attach the beads, nothing terrible. As long as you don't get crazy. Add your pearls (quickly) and your done!

I think they turned out adorable. Wasn't that quick. This is the perfect time to be on the lookout for the spring branches at the local craft stores. You will certainly be able to find some cute ones. I like the pearls too! The possibilities are endless, a clip for every outfit. Super Fun. If you make them, let me know, I would love to see em!
